Manager
Summary:
Responsible
for furnaces and subsystems for melting, transferring and storing copper that
are sold to Southwire's customers. Responsibilities include proposal
preparation, project management, systems design, development of new equipment,
selection of equipment, combustion systems design, PLC programming, MMI
software configuration, training and erection and start-up supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineering design for SCR furnace systems. Responsible for conceptual
engineering, prepares technical specifications and makes cost estimates for
proposals to outside customers for specialized SCR subsystems. Performs as
project engineer, design engineer, and start-up engineer for these specialized
subsystems when the proposals become contracts.
Develops new equipment and techniques including selection and evaluation of
hardware and software. Prepares proposals and cost estimates for prospective
customers. Makes technical presentations to prospective customers. Provides
training and transfers know how to SCR furnace customers.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required
- Requires 3+ years of related industrial experience, such as continuous metal melting equipment, furnace systems, design and operation (or similar industry).
- Prefers experience with continuous metal melting equipment, furnace systems, design and operation (or similar industry). PLC experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens or other PLC. Man machine interface (MMI) configuration and application experience.
- Requires the ability to communicate design information into various documents such as proposals, operating manuals and maintenance manuals.
- Requires the ability to do complete projects from proposal preparation to operating furnace system including budget and timing responsibilities.
- Requires the ability to travel internationally for 3-6 weeks at a time to sometimes-undesirable locations.
- Must possess excellent communication, organization, presentation, interpersonal, and project management skills.
