Fundamentals of Engineering exam

Students interested in licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the state of Georgia frequently take the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) examination during their senior year.  The next exam will be administered in April 2013.

There is a multi-step process which must be completed before you are allowed to take the exam.  Instructions were sent out in early November, but if you did not receive them and are interested in applying for the license and to take the exam, please email me and I will resend them to you.

A summary of the steps is listed here.  Remember this is a multi-part process—it starts with the Secretary of State’s office, www.sos.ga.gov/plb/pels, then requires additional paper documents and signatures, and finally, requires registration for the actual exam.

You complete your application for your EIT License on-line with the Secretary of State’s office and pay theiir $20.00 application fee.

o   Notes:  While filling out your on-line application for the Secretary of State’s Office be sure to print both your “Signature Page” and your receipt.  You will need to receipt number on the Signature Page for tracking purposes.  If you miss printing your receipt while filling out your application you cannot go back and retrieve it.

You need a total of five reference signatures, three of which must be PE’s.  I can provide you with a list of PE’s within CHBE; there may also be opportunities to obtain reference signatures from PE’s in other departments.  Let me know if you run into any issues obtaining your signatures.

You will need to submit to me the following items no later than December 14:
o   A complete Reference Signature page
o   A signed consent form
o   The Secure and Verifiable Documents page
o   A copy of a government-issued photo  ID, i.e. driver’s license, passport, etc)

When the NCEES registration opens (http://www.ncees.org/Exams/States/GA.php you will log in, register, and pay your exam fee.
