Job Description – Process Engineer
Prepare process designs to support the
Proposal and Projects for the Business Unit.
1.0
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Process Engineer
shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
·
Provide technical expertise in the
areas of Hydrogen, HyCo, Carbon Monoxide and Methanol processes.
·
Work up budgetary and firm proposals
including budgets, emissions, utilities, schedules, etc.
·
Review P&IDs and layouts
·
Workup RFQs for buyout items and review
quotes
·
Perform process simulations and develop
Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Heat and Material Balances.
·
Develop sizing information for Process
Equipment (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, Distillation columns,
separators, reactors, etc.) and provide information in the form of equipment
data sheets.
·
Prepare line sizing requirements.
·
Prepare material selection designation
(diagram) for plant requirements.
·
Develop innovative ideas and
alternatives to be cost competitive with Proposals.
·
Assist with preparation of Operating Manuals.
·
Provide technical expertise to the
project execution team.
·
Assist in developing plant control
philosophy.
·
Assist in Plant start-up and
performance testing, as required.
·
Calculate plant recoveries and utility
requirements. Determine guarantee levels.
·
Participate in sales meetings KOMs,
HAZOPs, PHAs, model reviews, and performance tests.
·
Walk down plants
·
Supervise and/or assist in loading of
catalysts and adsorbents.
2.0
Education and Experience Required:
·
B.S. in Chemical or Natural Gas
Engineering, minimum.
·
Five (5) years industry experience
preferred.
·
Experience in process simulation
required.
·
Experience in project engineering or
operations a plus.
3.0
Skills Required:
·
Working knowledge of Process
simulators, Hysis, Hysim, etc.
·
Intermediate level skills with
Microsoft Office software and Windows Operating system.
·
Intermediate level of experience with a
heat exchanger rating program (e.g HTRI)
·
Able to work with minimal supervision.
·
Able to prioritize workload and meet
deadlines.
·
Detail orientated.
·
Effective analytical and problems
solving skills.
·
Creative and innovative.

Travel Percentage:
·
Moderate, 15%

Physical Requirements:
·
While performing the duties of this
job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to
stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms;
climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move
up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently climb to heights
of 200 feet.
