BETA BETA BETA
Do you like meeting new people while enhancing your resume? Do you at least like dinosaurs? Beta Beta Beta, *the* National Biology Honor Society, may be for you! Tri-Beta is currently accepting new members, and it is *not* a requirement that you be a biology student. There are actually discounted dues for non-majors. We are a well-rounded society with events that cover community service, active learning (like going behind the scenes of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Georgia Aquarium, etc.), and building a supportive network of your peers. There are no GPA requirements for non-majors, so as long as you like biology at least a little and are ready to be part of an honor society that actually does things…join us! First general meeting: Thursday, September 1st, 11:05-11:45AM. ES&T, room L1105. Involvement Fair (if you want to stop by and ask questions): Wednesday, August 31st, 10:30AM-1:30PM. Also, throughout the year SABUR will host events to facilitate mentoring such as ice cream socials, coffee houses, and climbing the rock wall. If interested attend SABUR's first meeting (see above) or e-mail gt.sabur@gmail.com by September 15th. Please include your year, major, and brief description of your research experience.
GT WATER ALLIANCE
The GT Water Alliance will be holding its first meeting of the semester this Thursday (9/1) in Klaus auditorium 1447. Though relatively new to campus, our organization has already made significant strides towards our goal of promoting the proper use of water resources within the student body and surrounding communities, raising a general awareness of the issues facing the implementation of clean drinking water and sanitation on a global scale, and highlighting related research being carried out on campus. In addition to educating the community and decreasing Georgia Tech's water footprint, the Water Alliance aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas between departments in order to inspire and support multi-disiplinary innovation and project development. This effort has not been confined to the Georgia Tech campus -- in fact, members have been invited to participate in many off-campus initiatives, including hosting an exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium. We encourage interested students of any major to attend one of our weekly meetings for more information, as well as for the opportunity to hear from leaders involved in a variety of local and international efforts speak about current issues within the field. Whether looking for an opportunity to participate in novel research and product development, network with companies, or simply be a part in impacting the future of Earth's most precious and mis-used resource through the application of technology, Georgia Tech Water Alliance is for you. Additional information and contact information can be found at our website.
