Happy registration everyone!!
As this week continues, and everyone continues to go crazy trying to find that perfect schedule, the advising office decided we would throw out a couple of short tips this week to try and ease your frustrations.
First off we have the PERMIT /OVERLOAD/ PRE_REQ monster!
Since every single department handles permits differently, CHBE advising normally asks you to contact someone in the department who currently teaches the course that you want the overload for.
So how do you find out who that is?
One great way is to use the Registrar's site to check out the awesome list they have put together outlining most of the different school policies located here:
http://www.registrar.gatech.edu/registration/oprequest.php
Be sure to check out the entire "registration" tab on the registrar's site for some great tips and regulations surrounding registration time!

Georgia Tech’s School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering was established in 1901, making it one of the first chemical engineering programs in the country. With 800 undergraduates, 200 graduate students, and more than 40 full-time faculty members, it is also one of the largest. The College of Engineering at Georgia Tech consistently ranks among the top five engineering colleges in the country.

Waitlisting Class Registration Feature
Many of you may have heard about the new wait listing
feature being employed by several schools here on campus and I wanted to give a
little synopsis of what it entails.
When registering for a course the student will notice that
there are now two maximum numbers of seats.
The maximum number of actual seats, and the number of waitlisted seats. When a class fills up the waitlist feature allows
a student to register for one of the waitlisted seats. The student will now be put into a que. As registration continues and seats open, then those students in the que
will have the opportunity to register for the course in the order they are
listed in the que. Whichever section you
waitlist for, is the section you will receive
the seat in if a seat opens up. You
cannot waitlist for multiple sections.
For example:
CHBE 2100 Section A is full. Chemical Engineering decides to
add 5 seats. The first 5 students in the
que will receive an email giving them 24 hours during Phase I (12 hours during Phase II) to register for the
course. If they do not register in this time
window, they will lose their place in
line. As more seats are added, or students drop seats, then the next students
in line will receive the email. The
waitlist que will carry over
from PHASE I to PHASE II meaning if you do not get a seat during PHASE I then
you will not lose your place in line.
What does this mean for students?
NO more need for overloads!
NO more refreshing your browser every 3 seconds to see if
seats opened up!!
The registrar now has additional info up discussing waitlisting. See here:

Undergraduate and Graduate Students:
I would like
to invite you to an ExxonMobil Success Program Seminar presented by Mr. Archie
Meyer entitled "Building a Career in a Changing World"
this Thursday, October 27 at 11:00 AM in EST L1255 (the ChBE
